There’s something truly magical about a wedding that feels intimate, intentional, and deeply personal. Hinemoa and Stephen’s backyard celebration in Auckland was exactly that: a day crafted with love, filled with meaning in every detail.

From the moment I arrived, I could feel the care in every choice. Hinemoa had thrifted every single plate and piece of cutlery for the reception, she wore the same dress her mother and grandmother had worn on their wedding days, and photos of them in it were thoughtfully displayed on the tables during cocktail hour. These touches made the day feel timeless, connected to family, and completely theirs, truely unique.
They had a very specific vision for their film, handpicking the music to perfectly capture the mood of their day. I shot it on both Super 8 and digital, blending the grainy warmth of film with the clarity of modern cinematography, while my partner Anna captured 35mm stills to preserve the day’s subtle moments.

The result was a wedding film that doesn’t just document the day, it tells a story. A story of love, family, and heartfelt attention to detail. A story Hinemoa and Stephen can relive again and again, for many years to come.
If you're dreaming of a film similar to this one, I’d love to create it for you. If you’re looking for a Super 8 wedding filmmaker in New Zealand or Europe, please get in touch and we'll get the ball rolling!
